Have you ever been so excited about something, and you don't even know if it is going to happen?
That is where I am right now.
I am on the brink of a great opportunity, an opportunity to show people what I really know and to help make a difference for a company. Anticipating the call stating whether I have actually got the job or not is excruciating, but in a good way. After jumping through immigration hoops, moving hoops, money oops, marriage hoops, and everything else that has happened recently, I am very excited to finally see something falling into place.
This feeling is like jumping off a cliff and waiting to hit the water. Taking a huge risk and moving to Canada and just waiting for a rush of things to go smoothly. I am incredibly optimistic and I can not wait to hit that water!!
Until next time, I'm waiting in anticipation :)

Our Own Worst Enemies
Hello!
I have come to realize lately that when it comes to careers, we can be our own worst enemies. When we expect so much of ourselves, we tend to get discouraged when we don't live up to our own expectations as quickly as we thought.
What I want to remind everyone to do (including myself), is to take a deep breath and relax! If you are a hard worker, things will turn out OK. All we can do is try our best in the position we are in now, and try and be noticed at your current workplace.
Lets all grab a glass of wine and a snack and take a deep breath :)
Everything will turn out OK!
Talk to you soon, Brittany

A Little Reassurance Goes a Long Way
Hello again world,
I just wanted to share with everyone a little story that happened recently that just happens to be a perfect example of good managerial skills. As I have said before, I am in a position where I am trying to work up to a position that I really want. That said, sometimes the words of a manager can make all the difference in the world.
I was told the other day what a great job I am doing here and that my skills in marketing should be utilized more even if it is just fr our individual store. These words alone have made all the difference in my outlook here. It makes me want to do better and show that my skills in marketing should and can be better used. That I really am supposed to be marketing. And, that I am a member of the team worth keeping.
Just a word to all the managers who read this, if your staff is doing a good job; tell them. You might see a big difference, and I promise they will appreciate it!
So, I'm liking life at the moment and have a whole new drive to prove that I should get the job I want.
Talk to you soon!

Starting Life as a Professional
For some reason we all think that when we get out of university, opportunities just present themselves. Well... they don't. It took me a month to find a job, and I am still working on the career part. I am liking the position I am in now, a Sales Rep at a Rogers dealer. I feel like I am gaining knowledge that I can actually build on if or when I am moved into a marketing position. Everyday something happens that makes me think "When I am in marketing here, I want to..." The company is small, but strong. I would love to help it move even farther than it already has.
Every aspiring professional probably goes through this at this stage in life. A little bit of worry about what you are going to do financially, a little bit of wonder about what's going to happen next, and a whole lot of stir-craziness, wishing you could put your recently acquired skills to good use.
Here's hoping to a bright future! photo credit

Hello Everyone :)
I decided to start a blog again, under my new name. I am starting a brand new chapter in my life, done with university for now. I graduated and got married, now I brought my husband, Garrett, up to Canada to live closer to my family and start our professional lives, and our lives together.
Everything is proving to be an adjustment, from the weather to having a ton of family around, to being newly married and job hunting. We are currently staying with family, until Garrett's paperwork is through (he is an American immigrating to Canada) or until I get a job in marketing, which is the area I studied. I currently work in sales at a Roger's franchise, and will hopefully be getting a job in marketing with said franchise.
This blog will be about life's hurdles and laughs, both professionally and personally.
